Does my child need a Psycho-Educational Assessment or diagnosis to benefit from Orton-Gillingham tutoring?
No. This science-backed method can be effective with struggling readers whether or not they have a diagnosis.
What are your qualifications?
I hold a Bachelor of Education and have over 20 years of classroom teaching experience. I currently work as a Learning Strategist supporting students with diverse learning needs as well as their teachers and parents.
I am an accredited Orton-Gillingham Practitioner and regularly pursue ongoing professional development on topics including multi-sensory instruction, the science of reading and self-regulated strategy development for writing.
Do you offer online tutoring?
I offer both in-person and online sessions. Online tutoring works very well for structured literacy, and many families prefer the consistency and convenience it offers.
Will you tutor in my home?
No. In person sessions are taught at my home in Lake Chaparral in SE Calgary.

Policies
Lesson Cancellation Policy
I offer full credit or a rescheduled lesson for any session that I have to cancel. Cancellations due to sickness are excused. The client will not be charged for these sessions. All other cancellations are considered unexcused. You will be charged for each unexcused cancellation.
Please be aware that I am saving a standing appointment time (much like dance lessons sports practices) for your child. I take time to evaluate and develop goals specifically designed for each student. I prepare individualized lessons, so I expect the client’s attendance.
Withdrawal Policy
Please provide 30 days notice to withdraw from tutoring services. Notice of less than 30 days will result in forfeited payment.
Payment Policy
Lessons are $75 for every individually tailored, science-backed tutoring session. Fees are due at the time of the session or, if two or more sessions are booked during the week, fees can be paid for the entire week at the time of the first session. Receipts are provided at the end of every month.
